Ice Dam Hits Charming Municipal Building
An ice dam caused serious damage to this beautiful building in town. The ceiling and dry wall had to be removed as a result of water damage caused by the ice dam. The ice dam developed when snow melted on the roof with the warm afternoon sun and water started gushing down the roof. The complication occurs when the melted snow freezes again because the eave is colder than the upper portion of the roof creating an ice dam. The ice dam traps the water cascading down the roof and forces it back up and underneath the roof shingles, where it can leak into your wall cavities. Older structures like many of the town buildings are much more susceptible and this emergency requires the care and skills of highly trained technicians like those who work for SERVPRO of Natick / Milford.
