What type of jobs did you work on in Texas?

Water damaged houses due to burst pipes from the historic snowstorm that hit the state. 

How long were you there?

3 weeks. I flew with our project manager down to assess damage, and three crews drove down with trucks and supplies.

What did you learn from the experience?

How much we are at the mercy of mother nature, and how deeply it can affect us at any time. 

Do you feel as though your team was beneficial in the restoration of the communities affected by the snowstorm?

Without a doubt, we performed a very important service and we were integral in the restoration of the area. 

What was your favorite part of the trip?

Besides helping many families in need, I was very happy to help people and even more satisfied by how grateful they were. My team and I developed a deeper bond, and connected throughout the trip while aiding the community. 

What technology did you use in your efforts?

Non-penetrating and penetrating moisture meters, infrared cameras, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and eco-friendly disinfecting products were all used in our restoration efforts. 

The Texas climate is completely different from the Massachusetts climate you know so well. What did working in this climate change teach you?

It was interesting to see how water affected the wood in a different climate than we are in faster than the climate we are in here. It was amazing for me to see how important it is to get mitigation started right away as the climate in Texas is much more humid and hotter than Massachusetts, thereby accelerating the mold development.
